Halloween Haunts

Haunted Mansion

Cruella De Vil and The Wicked Queen conjure some frightful fun in front of The Haunted Mansion at Disney World. Across the state a variety of celebrations will mark "Hallow Even," with scary and not-so-scary alternatives to celebrate the occasion.

A Joyful & Rockin' Weekend

Tuesday August 26, 2008
Disney's Night of Joy and Universal's Rock The Universe will spread the sounds of some of the best Christian groups in the industry. Friday and Saturday — September 5 & 6 — both the Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios' guests will enjoy popular Christian entertainers and the park's attractions.

Disney's popular Night of Joy will celebrate its 26th year by presenting an unprecedented lineup of Christian music artists at a new venue — Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney-MGM Studios). Special one-night advance tickets for the event are $44.95 and advance two-night tickets are $75.95.

Time is running out to take advantage of huge savings on the "Rock Your Whole Weekend" ticket — a special offer that offers guests the entire Rock the Universe experience. The ticket includes admission to both nights of Rock the Universe 2008, along with three days of FREE admission to Universal Studios and Universal's Islands of Adventure. If purchased before August 29, the "Rock Your Whole Weekend" ticket is $73.99 (individual rate) or $69.99 (group rate). After August 29, the price increased to $95.99 for both individuals and groups.

Both events are often sell-outs, so don't delay buying those tickets!

Florida State Parks: Washington Oaks Gardens

Thursday August 21, 2008
Washington Oaks GardensLynn Wettach is a regular visitor here at Florida Travel and subscribes to my About Travel newsletter. She also loves Florida's state parks as much as I do. I took Lynn up on her offer to share her favorite state park with all of you. So, this week I get a vacation while you get to tag along with her to Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. You're in for a real treat as you read her wonderfully descriptive narrative and view her fabulous photos. You'll find that Washington Oaks is a great place to spend time wandering along a wooded trail, listening to the waves as they crash over rocks, or inhale the sweet scent of orange blossoms and roses. Enjoy!

Florida State Park Series Ending

Finally, as the saying goes... all good things must come to an end. The end of summer brings an end to my Florida State Park Series. I hope you agree it has been a good thing. Over the last few weeks, we've visited some of Florida's finest state parks and some pretty unusual ones too. We've photographed America's #1 beach, drove on what is possibly the World's Longest Fishing Pier, toured a southern mansion, an old fort and a tiny casita, listened to the music of a carillon tower, camped along the Suwanee River and watched manatees from an underwater observatory. There are still more state park adventures to be experienced, and we'll bring those to you from time to time, so check back here in Dawn's Florida Travel Blog. Or, sign up for my free weekly newsletter, About Florida to keep up-to-date on all the Florida Travel news and events.
