Voluntary Security ID Coming to OIA

Tuesday June 7, 2005
On June 21, Orlando International Airport (OIA) will be the first in Florida to offer the voluntary Security ID Card. Presently offered at five other U.S. airports at no-charge during a test phase, OIA will issue the cards for $80.00 - $100.00 a year. Although cardholders would still have to pass through security, the cards guarantee either "front-of-the-line treatment or an exclusive security line and the promise of no random secondary pat-downs. To get this new "Clear" card, travelers would have to complete a questionnaire, agree to a background check and submit biometric information — fingerprint and iris scans. Interested? Complete the Fly Clear Registration.
