Lightning Strikes Beach-goers

     Four people were hospitalized this afternoon after being struck by lightning on Clearwater Beach. It had been raining for about 20 minutes before the strike and although beach-goers had heard thunder in the distance, people remained on the beach. >News Story & Video
     This is a stark reminder of what so many do not know... that not only is Florida the Lightning Capital of the U.S., but lightning strikes this time of year in Central Florida more than anywhere else — about 50 times within each square mile. It needs to be taken very seriously.
