World Premier of BODIES THE EXHIBITION

Monday August 1, 2005
It’s the first-ever display of its kind in America and it’s controversial enough that everyone’s talking about it. What is IT? It is BODIES The Exhibition coming to Tampa’s Museum Of Sciene & Industry (MOSI) August 20, 2005 and staying through February, 2006.
BODIES The Exhibition takes a phenomenal look at the complexities of the human body — its 14,000-square-feet of exhibit space features 20 preserved cadavers in various poses and 260 organs and partial-body specimens. All provide a closer look at the skeletal, muscular, circulatory and respiratory systems.
You’ll notice that “BODIES” is in all caps. That’s as it should be because just like all caps in emails denote shouting, this exhibit shouts BODIES. Real ones! Well, real dead ones, that is. You know, cadavers. Very well-preserved (in a very complicated process) bodies. Even in the name of science, I think this is creepy! I haven't decided whether to go. I'm the one that closes her eyes when even the slightest hint of gore passes across the television or movie screen... so, why pay all that money when I probably won't even see anything?
The Tampa Museum of Science & Industry is the largest science center in the southeastern United States and a great place to visit whether you decide to see this exhibit or not.

I agree the body exhibit can be uncomfortable for those who are squeemish, but my grown daughter and I saw it and felt it was very educational.
