'Tis the season for goin' to Grandma's house, and that may mean a road trip. We might sing "over the river and through the woods," but we are most likely to get to Grandma's house these days via a crowded interstate highway. AAA estimates that 37.29 million will travel at least 50 miles or more from home this holiday and 83 percent 30.84 million expect to be traveling by automobile. The greatest number of auto travelers will originate in the Southeast with 8.81 million.
In a good news-bad news scenario, gasoline prices have been making a hasty retreat and are now averaging only $2.29 a gallon nationwide, but those prices are still up significantly from this time last year.
