Pirates, Pirates ...

Tuesday January 3, 2006
RiverFest Pirates      Pirates have been sighted along Florida's East Coast and it is rumored they will invade New Smyrna Beach January 13, 14 & 15 for RiverFest. In its third year, the festival features live music, boat tours, Viking ships, pirates, carnival rides, children's activities, horse and carriage rides, bed & breakfast tours, antique cars, trolley tours, ship tour, food and so much more. Best of all, all proceeds benefit the Marine Discovery Center so that it can continue its educational programs and tours.

and More Pirates!
Gasparilla Pirates      Named for the legendary pirate, Jose Gaspar, who terrorized the coastal waters of West Florida during the late 18th and early 19th century — Gasparilla has been a tradition for over a 100 years. Pirates sail into Tampa Bay amid much pageantry and "invade" the city. The rowdy swashbucklers then take to the streets in a raucous parade and street party. This year's invasion takes place Saturday, January 28 and tickets are on sale now for bleacher seating at www.GasparillaPirateFest.com.
