Legand of the Yeti Roars to Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom

     There is an ancient legend that deep in the Himalayan Mountains there lives an enourmous creature that fiercely guards the route to Mount Everest. That legend has dramatically roared to life at Disney's Animal Kingdom with the grand opening of Expedition Everest. The ride, which towers nearly 200 feet high, officially opened Friday with Gold Medalist Hannah Teter cutting the vine-like ribbon.
     The new runaway train adventure that combines coaster thrills with the excitement of a close encounter of the hairy kind... the mysterious yeti. The "expedition" begins in the mythical town of Serka Zong and continues as a steam train takes guests on an unforgetable, nearly mile-long adventure of steep climbs, breathtaking plunges and even backwards slides with a surprise encounter along the way.
