1,000 Dreams Will Come True this Independence Day

Wednesday July 4, 2007
Patriotic Mickey MouseMickey Mouse is doing an Uncle Sam impression... he wants you! What he wants you to do is watch watch the first-ever "Dreams Come True" swearing-in ceremony of 1,000 immigrants from dozens of countries which will be Webcast live from the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.

The ceremony will take place at the forecourt of Cinderella's Castle on Independence Day morning. At the special event, 1,000 future citizens will raise their right hand and take the Oath of Allegiance... making their dream of American citizenship a reality. The ceremony will feature the presentation of the colors, a keynote address by U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., the national anthem performed by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan, the Oath of Allegiance and the Pledge of Allegiance. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will also recognize Estefan and her husband Emilio as outstanding "Americans by Choice" for being exemplary naturalized citizens. Festivities will also include a stirring performance of "God Bless the U.S.A." by singer Lee Greenwood.

Tonight attractions and communities throughout Florida will celebrate America's birthday with spectacular fireworks. It's not too late to make plans to attend one of Florida's Freedom Fireworks celebrations.
