Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede... CLOSED!
Wednesday January 9, 2008
According to the Orlando Sentinel Dixie Stampede, Dolly Parton's version of dinner theater in Orlando, abruptly closed its doors Monday, January 7. One of the attraction's owners is country singer and actress Dolly Parton, who was on hand for the June, 2003 opening. It has been suggested that the owners are looking for another location for the dinner attraction.
Monday, the Orlando Sentinel reported that the owners had sold the 13-acre site to an undisclosed buyer putting more than 160 employees unexpectedly out of work. Later reports confirmed that the parent company of Orlando Premium Outlets, located nearby, made an offer that the owners of Dixie Stampede couldn't refuse. I guess that's a country folk's definition of stampede... take the money and run.
