Florida State Parks:
Skyway Fishing Pier State Park
Thursday June 26, 2008
The fourth in my summer series on Florida's State Parks takes us to the waters of Tampa Bay and the longest pier in the world. No longer do you need a boat to catch the big fish — tarpon, grouper or kingfish. Now you can catch these and others once considered off limits to land-based anglers. This is definitely a new approach to pier fishing... these piers are accessible by car. No more lugging rods, tackle boxes, folding chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc. between your car and the far reaches of a pier. Simply drive onto the piers, park your vehicle and walk just a few steps to where you will cast your line into Tampa Bay!
