Florida State Parks:
Hillsborough River State Park
Thursday July 10, 2008
Tell me if I'm wrong, but what state comes to mind when you mention river rapids? Colorado? That was always my answer. Except you really don't have to travel all the way to Colorado to see river rapids... we have them right here in Florida! Simply follow the River Rapids Trail at Hillsborough River State Park a short distance to an overlook to see this park's most unusual natural feature. The park also has an unusual man-made feature not usually found in Florida's state parks, but you'll have to read more to see what it is.
FREE Admission to Florida State Parks on Sunday
July has been designated Recreation and Parks Month by the National Recreation and Park Association. So, to encourage children and families to reconnect with nature, Florida's Division of Recreation & Parks is waiving park fees in all of its state parks (all 161 of them) on Sunday, July 13.
