Fay Fiddling Around Florida
Thursday August 21, 2008
It looks like Tropical Storm Fay is going to take yet another swipe at the state as she moves from east to west across the northern portion of Florida dumping drenching rain along the way. Fay is like one of those relatives that comes to stay and never seems to know when to leave. While tropical systems are usually quite unpredictable, this storm has defied forecasters from the beginning. When Tropical Storm Fay was expected to become a hurricane, she didn't. When the storm was expected to weaken over land, she didn't. And, while some may call her "just a tropical storm," tell that to the thousands in South Florida without power and those on the East Coast that have to leave their homes because of flooding.
Over the next couple of days, those living in or visiting Central Florida northward may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds and possible tornadoes. Those in the direct path of the storm should continue to monitor its progress.
