Camping in Florida: Florida's State Parks

Friday June 19, 2009
CampsiteThe third stop on our quest to explore Camping in Florida will be at Florida's State Parks, which offer some of the most affordable camping experiences in the state. Did you know that nearly 50 out of the 161 parks across the Sunshine State offer camping facilities? And, even if you don't own camping equipment, you can stay at a Florida State Park. Several parks offer cabins for rent — all you need to bring is food and your personal items.

So, if you're looking for a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life, look no further than Camping in Florida's State Parks. You'll find that "getting away from it all" has never been so much fun!

Florida's State Parks are also a great place to get acquainted with camping, but first you need to know the basics. About.com's expert Camping Guide, David Sweet offers a Camping for Beginners Course that will walk you through the basics, including gearing up, where to camp, setting up and breaking down camp and arriving home after camping. Sign up today to get the lessons by email and by the end of the month you'll be ready to enjoy the outdoors!
