Yes, Virginia... there really is a Christmas, Florida. Florida may not see much snow, but the small post office near historical Fort Christmas sees plenty of activity this time of year. People come from miles around to have their Christmas cards postmarked "Christmas, Florida!" If you go, expect to wait in longer-than-usual lines for what has become a holiday tradition for many. For those of you that try to get your holiday cards out early, this makes a great day trip!
Also, next weekend December 1 & 2 Fort Christmas celebrates a "Cracker Christmas" with pioneer demonstrations, more than 150 booths with homemade crafts, exhibits and barbecue. Hours are 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. both days and admission is free. Santa will visit from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. each day.
Christmas, Florida is located about 20 miles east of Orlando on Highway 50. The historical park and museum is located a few miles north of Hwy. 50 at 1300 Fort Christmas Road (C.R. 420).Read more:
