Two Worlds Celebrate Technology and International Heritage

There is no other place like it under the sun! It's where you can experience the cutting edge of technology, celebrate human achievement, participate in interactive presentations, and visit a unique kaleidoscope of eleven nations... all in one vacation. It's Epcot... and it is exclusive to Florida's Disney World Resort.

Epcot opened October 1, 1982 after years of planning and three years of construction. The 300 acre theme park was inspired by Walt Disney's creative genius and his visions of a showcase for innovation. It was designed with two "lands" of discovery: Future World and World Showcase. Future World showcases the land, the seas, communication, imagination, energy, technology and motion. World Showcase is a kaleidoscope of nations from throughout the world brought together to celebrate their cultural heritage, arts and entertainment.

Epcot is an acronym for "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow" and was originally envisioned by Walt Disney to have real residents living and working in a technically advanced community. Instead, the finished product conceived by his successors turned out more like a World's Fair. Several innovative changes though throughout the years has brought about more of a theme park atmosphere, and a constant influx of new attractions has kept guests returning.

Special events and one-of-a-kind world entertainment adds to the appeal of Epcot. Successful events such as the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival – one of the world's largest outdoor festivals of its kind – and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival draw thousands of guests to the park annually.

Directions & Tips:

Epcot is located within Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida and is accessible from several exits off of I-4 and the Hwy 192 exit off the Florida Turnpike. Once you are on Disney property, simply follow the signs to the entrance.

Epcot has two entrances. The original entrance is convenient to Epcot's 162-acre parking area and the Epcot monorail station. The International Gateway entrance opened in 1990 near the France pavilion in World Showcase, providing park access to guests staying in Epcot resort area hotels — Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk, Walt Disney World Swan and Walt Disney World Dolphin.

Be sure to pick up an Epcot guide map at the theme park entrance and time your day around "must-see" shows. If you want to dine at Epcot, priority seating is a must – on busy days, some restaurants may be fully booked by 10 a.m.

Reduce wait time at no additional charge with Disney's FastPass+ which is available at Test Track, Maelstrom, Living With the Land, and "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience."

Guests staying at one of Disney World's resorts may take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, where you can enjoy select rides and attractions either in the morning or evening. Check theme park schedules once you arrive at Disney World for specific days and times.
