By , About.com Guide

Disney Wonder Cruise ShipCompliments of Walt Disney Company
In the summer of 1999, the Disney Wonder joined its sister ship, the Disney Magic as one of the world's finest oceangoing vessels. Although the onboard experience is essentially the same on both ships, some restaurant names, entertainment, and themes differ, as well as the cruise length and destinations.

Rooms:

All 875 staterooms are a cut above the standard cruising cabin – averaging 25 percent more space. All staterooms feature telephones with "land lines," televisions, hair dryers, and safes. Most have a bath and a half. Nearly 75 percent are outside rooms with ocean vistas and many of those include private balconies.

Restaurants:

Disney Cruise Line offers unique rotation dining allowing a different magical dining experience each night of their cruise. Guests enjoy three unique restaurants – Triton's, Parrot Cay, and Animator's Palate – to sample a variety of cuisines. The same Disney wait staff travels with guests to deliver exceptional personalized service.

  • Animator's Palate – This restaurant is a work of animation art in progress. Everything begins in black and white – from the walls to the waiters' attire – and as the meal progresses, color appears. By the time dessert arrives, the room is awash in brilliant hues.
  • Triton's – An abundance of roses and chandeliers set the tone for this casually elegant dining room where continental food is served.
  • Parrot Cay – A colorful Caribbean setting featuring tropical cuisine.

Other dining choices include:

  • Palo – This adults-only optional dining experience is located atop the vessel. It features a sweeping view, an open-air kitchen, and serves Northern Italian cuisine.
  • Beach Blanket Buffet – This themed buffet features casual dining. [liPluto's Dog House and Pinocchio's Pizzeria – Located on the pool deck serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and pizza.
  • Scoops – Also located on the pool deck. Serves ice cream treats and fruit.

Amenities and Entertainment:

There is no reason to be bored. Disney Cruise Line stages entertainment fun for every member of the family including original Disney musical productions, a Disney-themed trivia game show, and first-run movies.

In addition, guests may browse a wide selection of ship-board shops, satisfy their Internet addiction, swim in three different pools (one is adult only), play ping pong, stay in shape in the exercise room, or treat themselves to a spa or salon treatment.

Adults also have the option to participate in wine tasting, guest lectures, or visit one of the lounge areas. Disney has the most exciting children's programming serving children of all ages.

In its magnificent 975-seat theatre, Disney presents Hercules the Muse-ical, a vaudevillian-style salute to the the ancient strongman featuring songs and friends from a Disney-animated classic. Guests can also view "Walt: The Man Behind the Myth" which is being shown in connection with Disney's 100 Years of Magic celebration that continues through December 31, 2002.

Children's Programs:

Disney has the most extensive children's programming at sea. Kids and teens may participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities and programs that are creative and fun. These programs are well-staffed with professionals whose job it is to see your child has the time of their lives.

Nearly an entire level has been set aside and outfitted with three distinct areas decorated with each age group in mind. Pagers are available to parents with children in the programming areas so children can contact their parents at any time. In addition, children are provided with wristbands identifying the child's name, parent's pager number and any allergies they may have. Disney children's programming allows kids to participate in children's activities while adults escape to their own private areas. . . "worry-free."
