The 200 acre sports complex can host more than 30 sports from aerobics to wrestling and all the "balls" in between. It's impressive facilities include classrooms, office space and media facilities, and serves as headquarters for sporting events taking place throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.
Since its grand opening in March, 1997, it has hosted a broad spectrum of athletes, ranging from youth league competitors to leisure-time amateurs, seniors to college teams and professionals.
Most recently, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off their 2002 training camp, led by new coach Jon Gruden, on July 29 at the complex. Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves have made the sports complex their spring training home since 1998. Minor league baseball's Orlando Rays, the Class AA Southern League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, annually play a 70-game schedule. Also, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) annually conducts more than 30 championship events at the sports complex after moving is national headquarters to Walt Disney World in 1996.
The old-style fieldhouse called "The Milk House" can accommodate six full-size basketball courts and 5,500 spectators. Other venues include a baseball quadraplex, two youth baseball fields, a track and field complex, a softball quadraplex, an 11-court tennis facility with a center court stadium, and four sports fields all sized for international soccer.
Away from the stands, guests can tackle the only permanent version of the NFL Experience. This interactive football playground gives fans of all ages and skill levels the chance to test their speed, passing and field goal kicking ability.
The world famous sports-themed restaurant, the All Star Cafe, features a delicious menu, an interactive game room, and a main dining room lined with baseball mitt-shaped booths and huge video screens where guests can watch sports highlights and live action games.
Fans may tour the sports complex, tackle the NFL Experience or attend most sports events at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex for the general admission price of $9.75 ($7.50 for children ages 3-9). Tickets for all events are available through Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting the box office at the entrance to the complex.
