Siesta Beach
Siesta Beach is located on the barrier island of Siesta Key just off Sarasota with eight miles of beautiful beaches. The sand on this beach is 99% quartz for the finest and whitest sand in the world. Beach amenities include rest rooms, picnic tables, tennis courts, volleyball courts, soccer field, a 20-station fitness trail, and playground equipment. Siesta beach is also one of the few beaches offering free use of beach "wheelchairs" for special visitors. A concession stand is available for refreshments and souvenirs. St. George Island State Park
Surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Apalachicola Bay, these nine miles of undeveloped beaches and dunes provide the perfect natural setting for St. George Island State Park. A wide range of activities including camping, hiking, fishing, swimming and sunbathing are popular in this area.Forests of slash pines and live oak hammocks coupled with extensive beaches and dunes provide the natural backdrop for the area. The gulf and bay support an abundance of marine life with the waters supporting some of the most productive commercial and sport fisheries in Florida. There is a thriving oyster industry at the mouth of the Apalachicola River.
St. George Island State Park is located 10 miles southeast of East Point off U.S. Hwy. 98 in the Florida Panhandle and is open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. until sundown. Saltwater fishing licenses are required in Florida. No lifeguards are provided on the beach and no vehicles are allowed in the dunes area. Boat ramps are provided in two areas. Perdido Key
This barrier island in the Florida Panhandle provides wide, white sand beaches. Sea oats atop the rolling sand dunes make this a natural habitat for shore birds and other coastal animals.
