Atlantic Beach was created in 1900 when Henry Flagler built a depot for his East Coast Railway. The next year he built the Continental Hotel and several years later Atlantic Boulevard connected this area with Jacksonville. Perhaps because of its history, the community of Atlantic Beach tries to be all things to all beachgoers. This is the most popular of three beaches along Jacksonville's oceanfront, but parking can be a problem because of that popularity. The slightly more than one mile of sand has access points at the end of 15 eastern streets. Parking can be found along these streets, but it is snapped up quickly and rarely abandoned.Location:
