Located "On the Avenue" in trendy Downtown Delray Beach, the Mall has been a hot spot on Atlantic Avenue since its debut. Unlike most other multi-exhibitor venues that tend to exude the ambiance of a "swap shop" or "garage sale," this mall presents a "department store" environment with a complete staff of sales associates. Although the look of the mall is of a higher-end nature, the inventory ranges from inexpensive trinkets to valuable antiques and collectibles and everything in between.
Mall owner, Gary Goldfarb, explained in detail how his concept is very different from most other venues in the industry.
"The merchandise and atmosphere of most multi-exhibitor venue tend to resemble those of a flea market where the owners simply leases booth space to exhibitors who are then left to their own devises with regard to operating guidelines, how their merchandise is displayed and the hours they keep. In short, it's like having dozens of indepenedently owned and operated businesses in one place, each doing their own thing. I wanted to create an atmosphere where people could still go on their 'treasure and bargain hunts' but not have to dig through bins or shelves, endure a disheveled or dirty environment, or deal with exhibitors who have that garage-sale approach and attitude. The Atlantic Antique Mall is a total departure from those types of places. When people walk in, it will be like entering a fashionable department store where everything is professionally displayed and a trained staff is there to answer questions and handle sales."
Another unique aspect of the Atlantic Antique Mall is the inclusion of a Military Uniform Museum and Exhibit on the second level. Goldfarb's 15-year history of collecting included a passion for military history. He now has one of the largest private collections of its kind in the country. Of the 5,000+ vintage articles, over 1,000 are U. S. military uniforms dating from the 1860s through the turn of the century. The display will change three or four times per year and will include insignias, chevrons, epaulettes and similar memorabilia plus American flags dating back to the "35-star" Civil War era. There will be no charge for admission to the exhibit, which is also scheduled to open late December or shortly thereafter.
The Atlantic Antique Mall is located at 504 East Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Delray Beach. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, and Sunday: 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with extended hours during special events.
