For years now, I have enjoyed traveling from the dry
Southwest US to the shores of the Florida panhandle to attend a weekend
walking event. The walking clubs of Florida, Alabama and Georgia
convene on the Gulf Coast of Florida each President's Day weekend to
enjoy four days of fun, fitness and friendship. Only once, has this
event been cancelled and that was when a hurricane devastated the area. |
| I enjoy walks. We walk on the white sands of the
beaches, through lovely residential areas, past tourist traps and fun
little restaurants. We top off the day with social events. Some times
we have a dinner at a local hotel and sometimes we have a barbeque. In
between, we head out to places like Landry's (where they throw rolls at
you!) and local seafood restaurants.
It was at Rusty's in Pensacola that we discovered Crayfrish Etouffe. It was a wonderful thick stew with a fantastic seasoned sauce. There are many fun places to explore int he Gulf Shores area and I look forward to returning. |
