Constructed on its present site in 1838-39. It is operated by the United States Coast Guard and the property has recently been transferred to the City of Fernandina Beach which will get a state grant to restore the lighthouse and open it to the public. History>

Constructed in 1826 this lighthouse is only accessible by boat or seaplane. It was deactivated in 1873. The lighthouse is surrounded by Fort Jefferson and operated by the National Park Service. History>

Constructed in 1887 and deactivated in 1985. This lighthouse located in Dunedin (near Tarpon Springs) is reportedly being taken over by the state as part of a State Park in the Anclote National Wildlife Refuge. The lighthouse is off-limits while preservation is under way. History>

This lighthouse has been turned over to the City of Carrabelle to be restored and operated as a historical site. It was constructed in 1895 and deactivated in 1994. History>


Cape Canaveral probably has one of the most restricted lighthouses in the nation.

Early photos in this collection show people enjoying the beach under the shadow of this great structure. Now there is no access, because as part of the Canaveral Air Force Station and under NASA's security zone, it is one of the most restricted lighthouses in the nation. First constructed in 1848 it was moved one mile inland in the late 1890s due to shoreline erosion. History>

The Pensacola lighthouse was first lighted January 1, 1859.

Presently operated by the United States Coast Guard this great lighthouse was first lighted on January 1, 1859. The lighthouse is not open to the public, but you can get out and walk the grounds. History>
