Guide Review - Restaurant Review: Joe's 2nd Street Bistro
Shrimp is Amelia Island's claim to fame, and rightfully so. It was the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry and where even now a good 80 percent of Florida's sweet Atlantic white shrimp is harvested.
While Joe's serves local seafood that comes highly recommended, I again ordered landlubbers fare the tenderloin of pork. It was grilled and served with a smoked peach barbeque sauce and was very tender and could easily been the best I've ever tasted. My favorite on the platter was what they call "Sweet Potato Hay." It was very finely shredded, crisp sweet potato. While I'm not a big fan of sweet potatoes, this particular dish was to die for. The roasted corn and red pepper salad was served cold, in a small tortilla shell. In my opinion, a hot vegetable medly would have been a better choice.
The variety of expertly prepared menu choices seafood, steak, pasta and game make this restaurant a good bet.
