The food market carries everything from gourmet kitchen gadgets to fresh vegetables and fruits to prime cut meats.

Guide Review - Restaurant Review: Marché Burette

Before leaving Amelia Island, my husband and I had to revisit Amelia Island Plantation to stroll around The Shops. We stumbled into Marché Burette to look around and decided to stay for lunch. Its old-world decor fits with the outside old-Florida-style architecture. The market offers a combination of wares from upscale gourmet kitchen gadgets to gourmet fresh foods.

We ordered a wood oven-fired pizza to split and two salads. The pizza crust is most unusual. Described on their menu as "infused with a reduction of balsamic vinegar, garlic, fresh herbs and rolled thin like a pita bread." The result was a light and crispy pizza that was superb, but a bit spicey. Looking around we seemed to see that others favored the salads and wraps.

Our service was adequate, but we were served with the check without being asked if we would like dessert. We also noticed others that seemed to wait, sometimes impatiently, to order. Not exactly deal breakers, but not what we expected when service elsewhere in the complex had been so impeccable.

If you're shopping at Amelia Island Plantation, then this guide says this is your best bet for taking the load off your feet and grabbing a quick meal or snack.
