Disney's Animal Kingdom is one of the easiest theme parks in Disney World for vegetarian dining. The food offerings are often fruit and veggie-based, so it is easy to find a nice selection of items no matter where you are in the park.
Note: The following locations and menu choices are as of 2011, always double check the menu before ordering. Items on this list may contain dairy or eggs.
Quick Service Dining:
- The Harembe Fruit Market in Africa is a great choice, just about every item here is vegetarian, and some are vegan.
- Pizzafari offers cheese pizza, warm bread sticks and a mac and cheese platter for kids.
- In Dinoland U.S.A, you'll find great food and great "extinction-themed" music. Try the veggie burger or ask for the chicken salad without the chicken. As of 2010, this location also had fries that were not cooked in animal fat.
- While Flame Tree Barbeque has a heavily "meat-focused" menu, they do offer a fruit plate with yogurt for vegetarians.
Table Service Dining:
- The Yak and Yeti in Asia offers an excellent vegetarian menu, including Vegetable Lo-Mein, several rice dishes and Sauteed String Beans. Note that the table service side of Yak and Yeti is veggie friendly but the counter service side is not, all options there are meat based.
- Savor the tastes of Africa at Tusker House, a buffet with plenty to offer. While this location does have carving stations, the buffet is packed full of innovative and flavorful vegetarian options. Look for rice, pasta and salad dishes with exotic touches. Note that this location is veggie friendly for lunch and dinner. It has a character dining breakfast with more conventional menu options.
- The Rainforest Cafe at the park entrance is worth a visit if you are traveling with kids. The innovative decor and fun menu choices make this a good pick for everyone. There are several vegetarian entrees, and a few that can be easily converted. This location is also very accommodating of special requests.
