The Bottom Line

If you've got a kid (of any age) that digs dinosaurs, then Dinosaur World is certainly worth the price of admission.
Pros
  • See life-size dinosaur replicas in natural habitat!
  • A plaque that identifies each dinosaur and its habits.
  • Fun hands-on experiences for the kids.
  • Fully wheelchair accessible!
  • FREE parking! (unusual for Florida theme parks)
Cons
  • Map of park could be more professional - we got lost!
  • Plumbing shows on waterfalls and spoils the effect.
  • Drinks, but no food service in park.

Guide Review - Attraction Review

I have passed the Dinosaur World many times over the past few years without so much as a thought of wanting to stop. My daughters never were into that sort of thing and I have to admit that I never even saw the movie Jurassic Park. I can't even tell you the name of giant dinosaur meanaces traffic along busy I-4 as it stands next to the sign advertising the attraction.

Last weekend, for the sake of my work, my husband and I set off for Dinosaur World. Interestingly, it didn't take long for the park to make a good first impression. The parking was free! There is little that is free at Florida theme parks, and parking isn't usually one of them. I continue to be impressed because after a short walk, we enter the rustic welcome center which also serves as the attraction's gift shop. What I liked about it is that you could actually stop to browse the gift shop without entering the attraction. It is a pretty neat place to spend a few minutes and stretch those travel-weary legs.

The attraction is well worth the price of admission. The dinosaurs are not only life-size, but life-like and set in natural landscaped settings. There is a plaque that identifies each dinosaur and its habits. Your children won't even realize they are learning!

There are enough interesting hands-on experiences for the children to keep them from getting bored and there is also a large playground to help burn off pent up energy.

On the down side, although there is a picnic area, there is no food service available at the attraction. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic or order delivery pizza.

I must admit, my pre-conceived ideas of what Dinosaur World would be like were wrong and I wonder why it took me so long to make it to the attraction. Some things never change though. I also admit that I still don't know the name of the giant dinosaur that meanaces traffic along I-4.
