The extra wide, mile-long, white, soft sand of Clearwater Beach provides plenty of recreational opportunities for the public and enough parking for easy access. Lifeguards are on duty year-round, and near the pier entrance are well-maintained picnic shelters, shaded playground equipment, open-air restrooms and concessions.
During the Clearwater Sunset Festival each evening, several hundred people stroll along Pier 60 and browse stands set up by craft vendors selling an array of locally made goods. Near the entrance to the pier, artists etch portraits of customers in charcoal and tattoo those that are willing while live entertainment plays from one of the pavilions.
