Originally formed as an expansion franchise in 1969 in Montreal, Quebec as the first major league team in Canada — Montreal Expos — they were purchased in 2002 by Major League Baseball and moved to Washington, D.C. before the 2005 season to become the Washington Nationals. The Nationals are the only franchise in the National League to have never played in the World Series.

Built in 1993, Space Coast Stadium was named in honor of NASA's achievements in the area over the last three decades. The spacious stadium seats up to 8,100 fans.
