Florida-Style Christmas Ornaments

I see ornaments everywhere that could be used for a Florida-style tree. Of course, the best source might be a Christmas Shop, but I've seen them in department stores and gift shops during the holidays. Cracker Barrel seems to have a nice variety of them every year. I particularly like the tropical-style Santas that wear wild swim trunks and wind surf, sunbathe, ride dolphins or sail into your heart.

You can either mix-and-match various ornaments or pick a specific theme. Hand-made ornaments can be made from the shells you found on the beach while on vacation. After cleaning, you can add a sprig of greenery and perhaps a touch of gold paint or glitter. After gluing on a tie, you have a nice ornament.

You are only limited by your imagination. A trip to a floral store might net small add-ons that can carry out a theme. I have found things like tiny seagulls and dried sea oats there that are nice touches when added to drift wood or shells.

Other stores are great resources as well. Fishing lures and bobbers are a colorful way to carry out a fishing theme. Even small plastic boats found in your local discount store can be spray painted and turned into ornaments.
