Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport tramCompliments of Orlando/Orange Co CVB
The renamed Orlando International Airport was granted international airport status in 1976 and in 1979 it was designated a "hub" airport. The airport continued expansion one airside terminal at a time and in 2002 a new air traffic control tower opened — the tallest in North America at 345 feet.

Also in 2002, Newsweek named Orlando as the "top U.S. airport for just hanging around." In 2003, it was ranked the No. 2 airport in the U.S. and No. 5 in the world by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

In 2004, the airport received more good news as J.D. Powers ranked Orlando International Airport No. 1 on their 2004 Global Airport Satisfaction Index. The same year, Airport Revenue News listed the airport No. 1, with the Best Customer Service Airport-Wide in the large airport category.

Awards aside, Orlando International Airport serves the top Florida vacation destination with some 50 airlines; 32-million passengers annually — almost 90,000 daily; and, approximately 920 daily arrivals and departures.

  • If you're flying into Orlando International Airport on your way to one of the Disney World resorts, you can now take advantage of Disney's Magical Express — the complimentary airport shuttle and luggage delivery service available during Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth.

  • Now visitors to Orlando International Airport can pay for their airport parking with SunPass.

  • OIA will be the first in Florida to offer the voluntary Security ID Card. >Details
