MCO: Orlando International Airport

By , About.com Guide

About Orlando International Airport:

Orlando International Airport was granted international airport status in 1976 and in 1979 it was designated a "hub" airport. The airport continued expansion, one airside terminal at a time, and in 2002 a new air traffic control tower opened — the tallest in North America at 345 feet.

Orlando International Airport has established itself as an award-winning facility, regularly receiving accolades for airport satisfaction, best customer service and even "top U.S. airport for just hanging around."

Awards aside, as the closest airport to Central Florida's major theme parks — Disney World, Universal and SeaWorld — Orlando International Airport serves the top Florida vacation destination with some 50 airlines; 32-million passengers annually — almost 90,000 daily; and, approximately 920 daily arrivals and departures.
