Gaylord Palms' Summerfest

The Sunshine State's only indoor summer festival!

From Tony Conboy III, for About.com

Dueling pirates, ax-wielding knights, story tellers and much more under the nearly 4.5 acre dome of the Gaylord Palms Resort makes for a complete day and evening of entertainment for the entire family. The event, billed as Summerfest, all takes place inside the air conditioned (to an always comfortable 72 degrees) mammoth resort guaranteeing that you won’t get rained on and you won’t even break a sweat no matter how hot it gets outside.

Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center is a total destination resort offering world-class meeting facilities, exceptional service, family entertainment, a Canyon Ranch SpaClub and recreation. It is situated on 63 acres and a short drive from Central Florida's world-famous theme parks.

Summerfest provides over nine non-stop hours, beginning at Noon and ending at 9:30 pm, of laughs and thrills that will keep everyone entertained.

Dueling Pirates and Knights

These two shows, Piracy and Medieval Times, both last about 30 minutes each and involve dueling pirates and an exhibition of medieval fighting instruments. The shows are extremely popular with children of all ages.

A1A Urban Extreme Stunt Show

Especially popular with teens, the 20 minute show features pounding rock music, break dancing exhibitions and in-line skating performance acts using the specifically constructed two-story skating ramp that also serves as a stage. The show has it all, even wowing fans by incorporating trampoline acrobatics into the show. >Video highlights

Florida Follies & Foot Stompin’ Reunion

Part Saturday Night Live style skit, part story telling, all fun - both shows last about 30 minutes. The Foot Stompin' Reunion even features performances by a three man band that plays hillbilly style music on a banjo, guitar and upright bass.

More, more & more!

In addition, throughout the entire day, inside the 1,406 room resort, other events are available other than what is taking place on the stage. Some of these special activities do include a small fee.

  • Gator feeding and having your photo taken with a gator. (Note: not available every day during Summerfest.)
  • Face painting
  • Hair braiding
  • Palm reading
  • Kite making
  • Create your own sand art
  • Golf swing analysis
  • Fly casting 101
  • And more…

Show’s Grand Finale

No matter what time of the day you go, do stay and don’t miss the 9:00 p.m. finale. The 35-minute show features laser lights and incredible Cirque Du Soleil-style feats of strength by aerial acrobats. Give yourself a little time to get a good seat; it's standing room only by the time the show starts at nine.
