Top 6 Florida Guide Books

By Dawn Henthorn, About.com

If you are going to spend hundreds of dollars on a vacation, doesn't it make sense to spend just a few on a guide book? While there are no guarantees that a guide book will assure you a good time, it will make planning easier. I've selected a cross-section of guide books on Florida's beaches and Disney World, plus guide books for those with special travel needs (including one for travel with your dog). Any of these guide books make great gifts for any occasion.

1. Foghorn Outdoors: Florida Beaches

All you have to do is grab your towel, this beach guide, and head for the Sunshine State to the beach of your choice. It's easy to plan your days from morning 'til night with all the details provided on every beach in Florida!

2. Disney On a Dime

Planning begins with a budget and the authors of Disney On a Dime give you novel ideas on how to "stash your cash" in preparation for a trip to Disney World. The book's strength, however, is their patient explanation of all the options you have among the bewildering array of Disney parks, tickets, parking and hotels, as well as the off-site hotels.

3. The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World

Whether you're a novice to Disney World or a repeat guest, a discriminating traveler or you have to pinch pennies, you'll save time and hassles with The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World.

So comprehensive are the categories that the authors say "virtually every family and group that 'does Disney' has a special need." Thus, if you are mobility challenged, traveling with an infant or a grandparent, have a special diet, are hearing or vision impaired or any of more than a dozen more special needs, you can use this guide book!

6. The Florida Dog Lover's Companion
