Mermaid Camp - Ages 7-14

Now your child can experience what it is like to be an underwater performer at Mermaid Camp. Week Wachee, home of the famous underwater Mermaid show, will train your child in underwater surface air techniques and the responsibilities of being a mermaid. At the end of the program, your child will participate in one mermaid show as a dry performer.

Camps are two-day weekend affairs where each child will receive two underwater training sessions per day, a "mermaid makeover" by their camp trainer and take home an autographed photo with her and a self-portrait in a mermaid tail.

Mermaid Camp dates for 2009 are:

  • April 25-26
  • May 2-3, 16-17, 23-24 and 30-31
  • June 6-7, 13-14 and 27-28
  • July 11-12, 18-19 and 25-26
  • August 1-2 and 8-9
The cost — Weeki Wachee Season Pass holders, $150 and non-passholders $200 — includes lunch both days and passes good for two daily admissions on child's scheduled camp weekend.

Beautiful Belles

Editor's Note: Cypress Gardens closed in November of 2008 and reopened in March, 2009. This program is no longer listed on their Web site. Anyone interested should call Cypress Gardens direct at 863-324-2111.

Cypress Gardens has announced the much-anticipated return of the Junior Belle Program. The program, which began again this spring, allows little girls to dress up in pint-size versions of the big hoop skirts and pantaloons worn by the Southern Belles of Cypress Gardens. The girls are taught "Belle Etiquette" and allowed to stroll the park for 90 minutes. This isn't a camp, but definitely something fun to report when your child gets that dreaded back-to-school assignment, "What I did this summer."
