July < August > September

August is a bust time in Universal Orlando, but there are not many scheduled events. Most crowds flock to Universal Orlando to ride the rides and enjoy the attractions at this time of year.

Some music programs like Velvet Sessions at City Walk are ongoing, and you can catch the nightly fireworks show, "Universal 360: A Cinesphere Spectacular," each evening in August.

In August 2011, Universal Orlando visitors can snap photos with cars from the Fast and the Furious movie series; three of the vehicles will be on display this month.

Expect to experience some of the hottest temperatures of the year when you visit Universal Orlando. Pack plenty of sunblock and stay cool by hitting the park early in the morning. Save watery rides like the Jurassic Park River Adventure for the hottest part of the day to stay cool.

Even though August is one of the hottest times of the year to visit Florida, it won't deter the crowds. Expect to wait in line for popular attractions at Universal Orlando. If you are interested in seeing the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, make that your first stop when you arrive at Universal in the morning.

  • Consider staying in an on-site resort like the Hard Rock Hotel or the Nickelodeon Suites to cut your travel time to Universal Orlando's theme parks.
  • Arrive early (very early) or stay late each night to take advantage of the thinner crowds and cooler temperatures.
  • Use Universal's "Front of the Line" pass to reduce the time you spend waiting in line for your favorite rides.
  • Does your August trip include some time in Disney World? Check out our guide to Disney World in August before you leave home.
