Top 4 Places to Wait in Disney World

Top Spots to Rest or Wait While Others Ride

From

Whether you are expecting a baby, traveling with a small child, or simply unwilling to ride the "superheadliner" thrill attractions at the Disney theme parks, you need a place to pass the time if you sit out a ride. Between wait times and the actual attraction time, you may find that you spend a significant time waiting, so choose a place that you will enjoy. The following list contains the top picks for places to wait while others in your party ride, with one great spot for each Disney theme park.

  1. Sleepy Hollow (Magic Kingdom): Nestled in the shadow of Cinderella Castle, Sleepy Hollow features coffee, Mickey Mouse waffles and the best funnel cake in the Magic Kingdom. Sleepy Hollow offers a shaded picnic area with comfortable seating, and is centrally located, so you can wait while the other members of your party ride any of the Magic Kingdom's thrill rides. An added plus for guests using the Disney Dining Plan — funnel cake, one of the top 10 Disney World Snacks, can be purchased here with a snack credit!

Tip: While you wait, watch for the Fairy Godmother and Princess Tiana, both make character appearances throughout the day at locations that are just steps from Sleepy Hollow.

  2. Mouse Gears (Epcot): Epcot's largest shopping emporium is packed with every Disney item you can imagine, and a few you have to see to believe. Spend your waiting time shopping for affordable souvenirs to bring home. Mouse Gears is conveniently located near Test Track, Mission:SPACE, restrooms, and several snack carts, so you will be close to everything you need while you wait.

  3. Writer's Stop (Hollywood Studios): Not only is the Writer's Stop a cool and comfy place to grab a bite, it is also the only place in the Studios where you can get a real, barista-made coffee creation. While away the time and sip a latte in comfort while the other members of your party get thrashed about on the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Most pastries and confections at this location are included in the Disney Dining Plan.

  4. Wildlife Express Train (Animal Kingdom): One of the best places to wait in the Animal Kingdom is actually a ride — the slow moving Wildlife Express Train. Board the train in Africa, and ride the entire loop (it travels to Conservation Station). The train is cool, comfortable, and usually not crowded.

If you prefer not to ride anything, look for one of the gazebo style seating pavilions tucked away in various locations (there is one to the right of the entrance to Kiliamanjaro Safari). These are cool, comfortable places to sit, and often overlooked by weary travelers.
