5 Essentials for Booking Your Disney Vacation

Important things to have handy when you make your Disney reservations

Ready to make your Disney vacation dreams a reality? Your next magical vacation is just a phone call away! While it is not difficult to book your trip to Disney World, there are a few things you should have on hand when you call.

1. Your Travel Dates and A Calendar

Have your target travel dates on hand — you won't be able to check rates or availability without them. You should also have a calendar handy, just in case the Disney resort you want is not available on the days you have selected. Sometimes, simply shifting your travel days back or ahead by a single day can result in availability at the Disney resort of your choice.

2. An Idea of Where You Want to Stay

If you have a specific Disney resort in mind, then be sure to mention it when you call to book your vacation. If you are not sure, take a look online to get an idea of what each of the different Disney resorts has to offer. Don't fret if you can't make up your mind — the cast member making your reservations will be able to check rates and dates at multiple Disney resorts for you.

3. Information About Each Member of Your Group

It sounds silly, but make sure you have the full name and age of every person in your party before you try to book your Disney vacation. This is simple if you are traveling with your spouse and children, but if you are making reservations for a large group or extended family, make a list before you call. Your Disney World reservationist will need a full name for every member of your party, and the age of every person under the age of 18.

4. A Pen and Paper

You will be getting a lot of information from the cast member booking your Disney vacation. Have a notebook or paper handy to jot it all down, so you can refer to it later. You can use this information when you book your airline flights, schedule vacation days at work, or call the Disney dining reservation line (407-WDW-DINE or 407-939-3463) to secure a table at the Disney restaurant of your choice. Be sure to write down your reservation number, just in case you need to make changes later.

5. List of Special Needs or Requests

The staff at your Disney resort will go out of their way to make your vacation a magical experience. Help them out by letting them know ahead of time if you have any special needs or requests for your room.

Typical requests include a Pack and Play portable crib, bed rails, specific bed sizes or layout, or a non-smoking room. Some requests (like a view of Cinderella castle) may not be met, or may require additional charges, but most can be handled with ease by your Disney resort staff.

Having a list handy when you call ensures that you won't leave anything out when you make your Disney reservation — and will save you the trouble of calling back later.
