If you are planning to visit Disney World in late December, expect to be overwhelmed by the decorations, shows and holiday cheer that fills the parks this time of year. You should also expect to see oversized crowds, peaking Christmas week.
Even though the parks are busy with holiday revelers, it is possible to find a special spot for Christmas dinner. All of Disney World's restaurants will be open on Christmas, but only some locations offer a special Christmas menu.
Consider visiting one of Disney World's resort dining locations for your Christmas meal. Not only will you get a break from the crowds, but you'll be able to enjoy themed holiday decor and fun that you won't find anywhere else. Two favorite locations are detailed below:
Grand Floridian
Choose the Victorian charm of the Grand Floridian, this deluxe resort offers the most formal and stunning Christmas displays you'll find in Disney World — or anywhere else. Have a special Christmas meal at Victoria and Albert's, Citrico's or Narcosee's; or have a blast with the characters from Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare. While Lady Tremaine and the wicked stepsisters are likely on Santa's naughty list, they are a lot of fun to dine with!
Tips:
- This location is easy to reach via monorail from the Magic Kingdom, even if you are not staying at the resort.
- Victoria and Albert's is an adult-only dining restaurant, with dining limited to the 10-and-up crowd.
Wilderness Lodge:
With roaring fires, towering pines and oversized decorations, the Wilderness Lodge is a warm and inviting place to go for Christmas dinner. The lodge is so rustic and welcoming, it feels like home, despite its overwhelming size. Admire the cute bear-themed Christmas decorations adorning the main lobby and cozy up by the fire as you wait for your table.
The Whispering Canyon Cafe offers a Christmas menu along with it's usual helping of rowdy fun. The Whispering Canyon will delight kids and fun-loving adults of all ages. Families without kids or with older children will enjoy the more serene atmosphere of the nearby Artist's Point, which will be open, but will not be offering a set Christmas menu.
Other Disney resort locations offering Christmas dinner:
- Flying Fish Cafe (Disney's Boardwalk Resort)
- Chef Mickey's (Contemporary Resort)
- The Wave (Contemporary Resort)
- Boatwright's (Port Orleans Riverside)
- Captain's Grille (Yacht Club)
- Yachtman's Steakhouse (Yacht Club)
Long Line Alert!: No matter where you dine on Christmas, if you want to enjoy a table service meal you will need to make an Advanced Dining Reservation to secure your table.
