Every Disney World resort is equipped to deal with both food preferences and food allergies. When you check in to your resort, ask for a recommendation for vegetarian dining — the more restaurants a resort has, the more choices you will find. In general, the deluxe resorts offer more vegetarian dining choices, simply due to their size and the number of restaurants they contain. Not staying in a deluxe resort? Don't worry, you can still visit for a great meal and enjoy the ambiance and themeing.

Top Disney resort picks for vegetarians:

The Contemporary Resort: You'll find some great vegetarian fare at both the Wave and the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. Fans of they very popular Chef Mickey's won't be disappointed either; there are plenty of meat free offerings at Mickey's buffet. (As with all Disney buffets, avoid the carving station and approach soups with caution, many contain chicken broth). As a bonus, you'll be able to meet Mickey himself (and a few of his friends as well); and, grab an autograph and photo right at your table.

The Contemporary is a short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, which has some great food choices for vegetarians as well.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge: Disney's Animal Kingdom is the best theme park for vegetarian dining, and the adjacent resort follows suit. From the exotic dining options at Sannaa and Jiko to the flavorful buffet at Boma, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is a top destination for vegetarians looking for something beyond a basic salad. Each restaurant has entrees, appetizers and sides with African flair; including tofu, hummus and grain dishes for every palette.

Tip: The Mara, the counter service location at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, is well stocked with vegetarian provisions as well.

The Port Orleans Riverside: Enjoy the ambiance of an old Southern bayou and dine in style when you visit the Port Orleans Riverside. While all moderate resorts offer vegetarian options, the Riverside comes out on top, thanks to the food court and fine dining locations on the property.

The Riverside Mill is set up food court style, but what elevates this location above other, similar resort food courts is the "make your own" pasta and omelette stations. Your food items are prepared while you wait, and you can select just the veggies you want to add to a pasta dish or an omelette, so you will know exactly what is going into your meal. Other serving areas include ice cream and milkshakes, pancakes, salads and pizza, making this an ideal stop any time of the day.

Other Resorts: While these three locations come out on top for veggie-friendly dining, any of the Disney resorts can accommodate your needs. If you are making an Advanced Dining Reservation for a table service location, you can ask about vegetarian options when you call.
