While we all understand travel may involve some inconvenience, there are certain things that can make travel down right unpleasant. What are some of the things you hate about traveling? Share Your Thoughts

Things I Dislike About Travelling

1. Motel room heaters / air conditioners that don't work. 2. Waking up to no hot water for a shower. Or the water suddenly turns cold while you're in the shower. Or you have to waste water and run it for 5 minutes before the hot water finally reaches your room. 3. Motels that the walls are so thin that you can hear your fellow traveller's alarm clocks going off. 4. Rip-off gas stations that charge excessive prices. Hello, Needles, CA!!!!!! 5. Motels that advertise WiFi and then it doesn't work. 6. Motels that advertise in coupon books and then, you wind up paying about $20 more -- even after you present the coupon. 7. Poorly lit motel rooms. I didn't pay for a cave. 8. Motels that have ridiculous and impractical "desks" that are too far away from electrical outlets -- not conducive to using your computer. 9. Not enough electrical outlets, and some of the extension cords I've seen are SCARY! 10. Motel owners that let their dogs run free.

hotel room

I hate dirty hotel rooms and bathrooms.I think they all should change the sheets everyday and use some bleach in the bathrooms.

Clocks and Inconsiderate People

I hate hotel alarm clocks too -- especially ones that are previously set to go off at 3 am! I unplug the alarm clock before going to bed and use my cell phone for an alarm if I need to be up at a certain time. I also hate inconsiderate people in hotels who bounce balls off walls, turn up the volume on the television, yell at their kids and one another, etc.

Restless nights

I hate not getting a good night's sleep then having to travel/function the next day while feeling cranky. I want a comfy bed and limited noise and to not hear the other rooms plumbing all night. I don't want much!

too much stuff

I hate travelling with people who feel they must pack everything they own into their luggage and expect someone to help them drag, push, pull and carry the stuff for them. Then they hold up the lines in airports, train stations etc. Surely everyone now days knows that it is better to travel light. Isn't it mandatory that your luggage meet weight and size restrictions? Why do people think this doesn't apply to them, that they can get away with packing their whole wardrobe and household with them and no one will mind. They stand at the check in counter and argue with the receptionist who tells them about the restrictions and they yell, cajole, whine and get angry because as they say, "just this once" can't you make an exception. I've stood in line while people laid their luggage on the floor, opened it and tried to rearrange its contents in the hopes the weight will change. when the rules say a certain size and a certain weight applies, it means to them as well as the rest of us.

EUROPEAN TRAVEL

If you think it's bad in Florida just try traveling in Europe. When you rent a care they don't even tell you if it is a diesel. The hose fits right into the tank and most Americans fill it up with unleaded gas only to have to pay to have the engine flushed out and get billed for it. This just happened to us in France. After spending a few weeks and finally getting adjusted to a different way of life in Europe, just try to get home. First you get up at some ungodly hour in the morning and pay mega bucks for transportation to the airport. Drag the luggage and check the monitor for your return flight. It is posted "on time". Go to your gate; no one is there. Shlup with the bags to another gate only to find out that the flight was cancelled and the airlines never informed you. Then it takes 5 people to rebook you on a flight the next day to a destination in Europe when you are in fact going back to the US. To boot the airlines refuse to pay for the hotel. Add $1,000 to the trip.

ms

I hate to get up at 6.00 and 5.30 when I am supposed to be on vacation. Can't tours cater to the sleepy head and have breakfast at 8.00 - 8.30 etc...whats the hurry? We have all day and night...
